Meet the Reading Teacher Mrs. Lisa Hanes-Cox
My
name is Lisa Hanes-Cox and I am a native Floridian. I was born in West
Palm Beach, Florida. I love living in South Florida! I especially enjoy
the warm weather because it provides me the opportunity of participating
in outdoor sports such as running, biking, and swimming. I love to compete
in local running events, and triathlon competitions.
I grew up in North Miami, Florida. I attended Dade County Schools and
I loved every minute of the education I received in the Dade County
System. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in 1983 from Barry University.
In 1997 I completed my Master’s Degree in Education from Barry University.
On May 8, 2004 I will graduate with a Specialist’s Degree in Education
from Barry University. As you can see I absolutely LOVE going to school
at Barry University.
What I am MOST PROUD of are my four wonderful children, Kenny, Larry,
Julia, and Billy. They have taught me what the definition of love truly
is. I am also thrilled about the fact that they all like to read!
My favorite genres to read are biographies, and non-fiction books. My
favorite book to read aloud to high school students is the book It’s
Not About the Bike, My Journey Back to Life by the five time Tour de
France Champion Lance Armstrong. My classroom is decorated with pictures
of Lance!
